QWE WANT to help our daughter buy a home but she’s buying it with her boyfriend. Is there anything we can do to protect our cash in case they split up? We’d hate for it to be lost.

AYOUR daughter should consider buying the property as ‘tenants in common’, where each person purchases a percentage share. Or have an appropriate loan agreement drafted by a solicitor.

I CHECKED my state pension last year and was told I would get the full amount. When I got my actual notice to say I could claim my pension I found I’m only getting £140 a week. I can’t seem to get an explanation as to why.

AWITHOUT seeing the forecasts or statements I cannot give you an explanation for this.

Although, I’m just wondering if you were maybe ‘contracted out’ of the state pension, which would mean you paid lower National Insurance contributions at some stage during your working life.

If this is the case it would mean, in theory, that more cash would have been going towards building up your workplace pension – so the

MY CREDIT card firm has offered me the chance to transfer balances onto either a fixed long-term 4.7% deal, or 0% for 15 months. I’m not sure what’s best.

ATHIS all depends on the size of the balance to be transferred, and the amount of interest payable per month at 4.7%, compared to whether you could afford to repay the whole balance within 15 months or not.

You could also qualify for another 0% deal after 15 months.

QIT’S not necessary but it would make it a lot easier for you to account and evidence your income and expenditure per annum. And it would mean you avoid mixing up your finances.

QI WAS made redundant after 18 years. The firm said it didn’t have cash to pay me redundancy, and I’m not entitled to statutory redundancy as the company wasn’t insolvent.

A court case ruled in my favour, but I can’t get the cash as the firm has no premises. Is there anything I can do?

AI’M REALLY sorry to hear of your plight. However, this is a legal matter and not in our remit. If you haven’t already done so, I suggest you speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau to see if there is any help they can give you.

Good luck.
