Rob looking to add to goal haul

- FOOTBALL By MARTIN EASTWOOD

EMLEY look to continue their good run of form today when they play host to Atherton Laburnum Rovers at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground (3pm) in the North West Counties First Division North.

Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Bacup saw the Pewits extend their unbeaten run to eight games, although many will feel they were lucky to a get a point after a scrappy game over in Lancashire.

However Emley, like most teams, won’t care how the points came but will be happy to have them.

Atherton will also be looking to earn maximum points and end a run of seven defeats in all competitions and move up the table. They are currently 14th, with Emley in second.

Rob Boardman will be looking to keep up his good goalscoring record of late. The striker has bagged a brace in each of his last

15. Will Milner, 14. Kian Stewart, 13. Lewis Workman, 12. Tom Owen, 11. Ross Whitmore, 10. Cail Cookland, 9. Joel Hinchilffe, 1. Callum Thompson, 2. Liam Stapely, 3. Reuben Pollard, 4. Guy Borrowdale, 5. Nick Sharpe, 6. Liam Parfitt, 7. Lewis Bradley, 8. Dickie Piper (captain). Replacements: 16. Alex Battye, 7. Louis Frear, 18. Harvey Keighley Payne, 19. Dave Martin, 20. Elliot Knight three games, so will be keen to extend that record.

But anything is possible in this level of football, every team is capable of beating everyone else so Emley, again, will need to be on top form.

Meanwhile, fourth-placed Golcar United will be hoping to build on last week’s 5-1 thrashing of Pilkington when they travel to Nelson today. Buddy Cox, Jordan Townend (2), Michael Fish and Max Leonard were all on the scoreboard last week.
