PREPARE for tears, it’s one of the most emotional and inspirational events of the year. And this year’s Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, is actually the 20th anniversary.

As always, the country’s biggest celebs are out in force to celebrate and congratulate our nation’s heroes.

Those people who have shown remarkable courage, or incredible hard work, and who’ve made a huge difference to other people’s lives.

As ever, Carol Vorderman is in charge of proceedings, while some of the famous faces appearing to hand out awards and celebrate the winners include Avengers Robert Downey Jr and Chris Pratt, sporting heroes Greg Rutherford, Gareth Southgate,

Dina Asher-Smith and Harry Kane, acting legends Sir Michael Caine, Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ben Kingsley and Sir David Jason, telly royalty Simon

Cowell, Amanda Holden, Shirley Ballas and Craig RevelHorwood, and actual royalty Prince Charles.

The awards include Outstanding Bravery, Fundraiser of the Year and Child of Courage. And there won’t be a dry eye in the house as Carol reveals the inspirational stories behind each Pride of Britain winner. Like seven-year-old Jaydee-Lee Dummett, who saved her whole family’s lives by raising the alarm when she recognised the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Or schoolboy Ben Hedger, who helped to avoid a terrible tragedy by steering his mum’s car across a dual carriageway after she collapsed at the wheel at 65mph.

The people honoured really are the best of Britain, and we can all be proud of what they’ve achieved.
