Gameplan in safe hands as belief growing

But instead Town stood up superbly to stifle Brentford, and were rewarded with another victory that makes it 15 points from their last seven games.

It is an attitude that may serve the Terriers well as they head in to another away trip on Saturday – this time against table-topping Preston North End.

Grabara, who was involved in the move that led to Karlan Grant’s goal, said: “I think against teams like Brentford, they have quality players in the midfield, they can play from the back and they transit the ball quite quickly.

“When you face teams like this, I think teams give them too much respect and they get caught between pressing and settling down against them – and that’s a trigger for teams like Brentford.

“We said to each other before the game that we need to just press and do what we can. We’ve got great physicality in the team so that’s a good plan, and as you saw we win it because we stuck to the plan. We defended well and we scored, so that was everything in the game.”

Cowley revealed after the game that the high-pressing approach was decided in collaboration with the players, and the goalkeeper shed some light on how that came about.

The on-loan Liverpool man said: “It’s the boss’s decision how we’re going to play but he’s all about what he sees in the team – what can we play, how can we play. That makes the solution and that’s an outcome from the players, the staff and everyone.

“Obviously you should do what the boss is asking you to do because you get paid for that, he’s not your friend, but I think he managed to find a way that suits the players.”

Grabara also praised goalscorer Grant not just for his goals, but for an overall contribution at the front of an increasingly welloiled side.

He said: “He’s a top striker, you can see, and even when we had a tough start to the season he kept scoring goals. He’s a big belief for us because once we get the ball to him or to Fraiz [Fraizer Campbell], they can manage to hold that ball and they’ve got good help from the midfield.

“So it’s working like a good machine I would say now, and we’ve just got to take care of it and treat it properly to get the results.

“We’re going to lose but I hope we’re not going to lose [soon], and it’d be great to finish the period between the national teams with another away win. I hope the fans are going to turn up like they did against Brentford. That was fantastic – we’ve got someone to play for.”

We’ve got great physicality in the team, so the press is a
