Berry Brow hit Shepley for six in cup meeting

IN an all-Division 1 Barlow Cup tie, Berry Brow travelled to Shepley and won comfortabl­y 6-0. Shooter (two), Brennan (two), McAliskey and Wharam were on the mark for the Brow.

Holmbridge – with goals from Allen, Haigh and Thompson – just squeezed past Almondbury Woolpack 3-2, with the Division 2 side netting through Allert and Gartery.

Fothergill and Whittles agreed to Shelley’s offer to switch grounds.

It paid off as two goals from Lee sent them into the next round.

Heywoods Irish Centre travelled to Diggle and goals from Colcombe, Perrin, McRitchie (two) and Brook gave them a 5-0 win.

In the only all-Division 2 tie played, Dalton Dynamos comfortabl­y beat neighbours Kirkheaton 5-1.

In the Sheffield Cup, Scholes won 2-1 after extra time at Stocksbrid­ge Park Steels.

In the Groom Cup, AFC Dalton made the short trip to Almondbury Athletic and goals from Miller (three) and Akbar gave them a 4-0 win.

Huddersfie­ld YM comfortabl­y beat Deighton 6-1 and Moorside beat Brook Motors 5-3 on penalties.

In the only all-Division 4 tie played Cartworth beat Cleckheato­n 2-1.

In the Richardson Cup, Honley beat Berry Brow 4-1. Shelley overcame Fothergill and Whittles by the same scoreline.

The Linthwaite and Junction tie was abandoned following a serious injury to a Junction player.

AFC Lindley lost at home, 1-0 to Holmbridge, while two goals from Bowker just nudged Cumberwort­h past Dalton Dynamos 2-1.

Netherton entertaine­d Heywoods Irish Centre and drew 4-4 but lost on penalties 4-2.

In the Gee Cup, Britannia Sports A beat Meltham 3-0. Cumberwort­h B had a high-scoring game with Wooldale and came out on top 7-5.

Cumberwort­h’s goals came from Simpson (three), Sanderson, Seargent, Walker and Wells. Wooldale’s goals came from Crosland (two), Giles, Reilly and Kitchen-Dunn.

Kirkburton with goals from Goring (three), Manning and Woods beat Hade Edge 5-2.

Netherton A had a hard-fought win over Almondbury Woolpack 4-3.

Netherton, who led at half-time 3-0, had goals from Petay (two), Jackson and O’Connor while Woolpack’s three second-half goals came from O’Donnell, Parkinson and Reid.

In the league, Scholes A drew with Cumberwort­h 1-1 while Skelmantho­rpe beat Grange Moor Saints 7-2 with goals from Capewell (two), Radley (two), Dennis, Short and Brothers.

In Reserve Division 4, Mount with goals from Byrne and Stannard beat Linthwaite A 2-0.
