Rochelle tees off for 2020

- By MEL BOOTH

GOLFER Rochelle Morris says she has no regrets from her rookie year on the Ladies European Tour.

The former Curtis Cup player from Woodsome Hall divided her time between the Access Tour and the main one.

And despite making only four starts, she finished a highly-creditable 123rd in the LET Order of Merit - her final outing a 24th-place finish in Barcelona, when dad Roger was on the bag.

Now, Rochelle is looking forward to January’s LET Final Qualifying School, looking to secure a better category for 2020.

The 24-year-old, who played a total of 16 tournaments in 10 countries, explained: “My first year on tour has been very eventful, it has been full of laughs, a few tears (not always me) and a lot of hard work on and off the course - 2019 is a year I’ll never forget.

“A 123rd finish on the LET order of merit as a rookie with only four starts is a result I am pretty pleased with. I split my year between both the Access Tour and main to take the opportunities I was given and there are no regrets.

“From being excited chatting to Laura Davies in Morocco and warming down next to Carlota Ciganda in Spain, this year has given me so much experience.

“I’ve learned a hell of a lot and I can’t wait to put this into practice next year, a lot calmer, collected and with a sense of belonging.”

Ahead of the Qualifying School, Rochelle is working on her stability to hopefully help produce more consistent ball striking.

Rochelle has thanked her coach John Eyre, the Woodsome Hall professional, strength and conditioning coach Adam Batchelor and physio Craig Coulson for all their help - and a list of sponsors who enable her to meet the costs of competing.

“In January I will be competing at the Ladies European Tour Final Qualifying School to hopefully gain a better category for the 2020 season,” confirmed Rochelle.

“It has just been announced that the tour is merging with the LPGA, too, so many more opportunities, including more TV coverage, equalling increased prize funds.”
