Get set Scho! Town ‘keeper joins Lions in loan switch
TOWN will be keeping a close eye on goalkeeper Ryan Schofield as he prepares to make his loan debut for Livingston.
The 20-year-old England age-group player joined the Scottish Premiership fifth-placed side on loan earlier this month and has taken part in their training camp in La Manga.
Now Schofield - who has played twice for Town this season - is preparing for a first start north of the border as Livingston entertain Scottish League One leaders Raith in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
And speaking to Livingston’s official club website, Schofield says he’s looking forward to getting involved.
He said: “It’s valuable as a young goalkeeper to get games, and I want to kick on and hopefully rack up some games, if possible.
“I think the opportunity was too good to turn down when you look at the teams in the league and the profile of the league.
“Everyone’s in it together here and that’s something I like when approaching games.”
Town boss Danny Cowley has explained why it’s important to loan out youngsters like Schofield and Rarmani Edmonds-Green, who has been loaned to Swindon.
“First of all we have to create a good culture and environment for them. Once we’ve done that we need to provide the right training with the right games programme,” said Cowley.
“If you can get all of those three things correct then the players make rapid progress.”
Cowley added: “Ryan Schofield is a really good character and he’s only been out the building three or four days and I’m already missing him. He’s in La Manga somewhere...I hope he’s got factor 50 on!
“He’s a great kid but for him and for his development and for this football club there’s a longterm plan and we have to sometimes be really disciplined and we have to respect that.”
TOWN appear in the box seat to sign Lincoln City left-back Harry Toffolo.
The 24-year-old was a fixture under Danny Cowley at Sincil Bank and is an interest for the Terriers boss in this January transfer window.
Cowley has already brought in Richard Stearman from Sheffield United and loan man Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal, in addition to
TOWN’S next opponents Brentford have been given a massive boost for their trip to the John Smith’s Stadium.
That’s because popular manager Thomas Frank has signed a new deal to keep him at Griffin Park until the summer of 2023. Brentford are currently third in the Championship
