Not for the average Joe

-

HE’S one of Hollywood’s favourite mobsters, recently out of a 20-year retirement to take a starring role in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman. But now it’s Joe Pesci who’s hoping to get an offer he can’t refuse … on his Jersey Shore mansion.

Pesci, whose big screen roles include My Cousin Vinny, Casino and Goodfellas, has listed his New Jersey waterfront home with a price tag of $6.5m.

The eight-bedroom, eightbathroom house has distinctive Art Deco looks, but was actually built in 1990 in the West Point neighbourhood, a short distance from the beach.

Oscar-winner Pesci, who turns 77 next month, has owned the 7,200sqft open plan home since 1994.

Not surprisingly for someone who ranks among LA’s movie elite, the house is perfect for parties, with large light rooms opening out on to a pool terrace at the water’s edge.

One of the mansion’s most stunning features is its dramatic curved staircase in the foyer leading guests to the upper floors. Downstairs, floor-toceiling windows take full advantage of beautiful shore-front views.

The main living room has two seating areas and a pair of pianos – Pesci’s a big music fan and a pretty decent jazz singer! – there’s a spacious eat-in media room which also has its own bar and a pinball machine, and there’s a barber’s chair giving a nod to Pesci’s pre-Hollywood career.

The upper level of the property, which can be reached by a lift, houses all the bedrooms – many with curved windows giving incredible bay views – as well as an office.
