Top Toff has ‘commitment in his veins’

-

became a regular, and he started every league match as the Imps romped to the League Two title last season, pitching in with three goals and nine assists in 52 appearances in all competitions.

That record earned him a place in the PFA League Two Team of the Season.

Toffolo has four assists and a goal from 32 games so far this season, but he appeared to be waving goodbye to supporters after their win over Bolton Wanderers, with reports of talks with Town emerging quickly afterwards. Now the move has come to fruition, so what can Town fans expect from a player Cowley trusts and rates? For the answers, we have talked to Gary Hutchinson, from the Lincoln fan site The Stacey West... full-back. I’ve often labelled him more as a wing-back if anything, he loves to get forward and link up with a winger.

When paired with the right person, you’ll find him overlapping and even driving into the area.

He’ll bag a couple of goals each season, even popping up in the left channel last year to score, much to Danny’s ire at the time! I did question his defensive ability last season, not that he couldn’t defend but I worried at times he was too attack focused. That’s proven to be incorrect though and, this season, he’s been outstanding up and down the flank. In League One, he has very few weaknesses, certainly not that I can put my finger on. He’ll be sorely missed. player can step up or not, it depends on his team-mates, the style of football and all sorts of other aspects.

Look at Marc Bola, he was excellent for Blackpool last season and yet flopped at Middlesbrough.

What I would say is that he’ll be working with a manager he knows and respects and who knows how to get the best out of him. That’s a good sign. In terms of ability, yes, he’s ready. He’s also very level-headed, down to earth and very driven.

I interviewed him a few months back and asked if he was ready to have a break as we had Ben Coker fit and ready to come in for a relatively meaningless EFL Trophy match. Toff immediately replied: ‘No, I want to play every game.’

There’s nothing but commitment running through his veins.
