Heartbreak for Saints in cup

GRANGE Moor Saints travelled to Sheffield to play Boundary Academy in the Sheffield and Hallam Junior Trophy and were well beaten 4-0, whilst Kirkburton lost 3-2 away at Wickersley Old Village, Rotherham in the same competitio­n.

In Division 3 Meltham retain top spot in a 3-2 win over Deighton.

Moorside had a comfortabl­e 4-0 win over Brook Motors, while Huddersfie­ld YM won 5-2 against AFC Dalton. Bottom club Hade Edge had a 3-2 win in the Groom Cup tie against Uppermill. Scissett won 4-0 against Mount.

Flockton beat Brighouse Athletic 6-3. In the league, Wooldale went to Cartworth and won 2-0.

Shelley claimed top spot in Division 2 over second place AFC Lindley in a 3-2 win. Dalton Dynamos won 4-0 away at Kirkheaton. Almondbury Woolpack stay third with a 5-2 win over Cumberwort­h.

In Division 1 Heywood Irish centre beat bottom club Diggle 3-0.

In the Barlow Cup, Division 2 Junction drew with Scholes 4-4 but lost out 4-3 on penalties. Honley beat Skelmantho­rpe 4-3 on penalties. Holme Valley Academical­s almost sprang a cup upset holding Slaithwait­e to 1-1 but lost 4-3 on penalties. Linthwaite beat Britannia 6-2 and Berry Brow hit nine past Lepton.

Britannia Sports drew 0-0 with Scholes in the Richardson Cup but went through on penalties 4-3.

Newsome went through beating AFC Dalton 6-2. Heywood Irish Centre beat Brook Motors 5-1.

Netherton stay top of Reserve Division 1 beating Linthwaite 2-1, as Fothergill and Whittles beat Shelley 4-2. In Reserve Division 2 AFC Lindley drew with Junction 3-3.

Almondbury Woolpack re-claimed top spot in Reserve Division 3 in a 3-0 win over Grange Moor Saints, while Wooldale beat Hade Edge 3-1.

In the Gee Cup Berry Brow A beat Hade Edge A 6-0. Deighton A beat Scissett Reserves 4-1. Kirkburton Reserves lost 4-3 on penalties to Cumberwort­h. Cumberwort­h B drew with Britannia Sports A 1-1, winning 5-4 on penalties. Meltham beat Scholes A 7-1 and Skelmantho­rpe lost 2-1 to Slaithwait­e.
