Brow suffer shock defeat to Heywood

IN the Challenge Cup Linthwaite beat Dalton Dynamos 4-2, while Skelmantho­rpe comfortabl­y beat neighbours Scissett 5-0. Kirkburton lost at home to AFC Lindley 3-1.

In the Barlow Cup Hepworth United lost 3-2 at home to Newsome, while Grange Moor Saints won their Groom Cup game against Wooldale 3-1.

Division 1 leaders Berry Brow suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Heywood Irish Centre. Scholes travelled to bottom club Diggle and won 4-0. Holmbridge easily beat Honley 4-0. Shepley also had an easy win, beating Slaithwait­e 6-1.

6-1 win over Kirkheaton. Almondbury Woolpack stay second in a 5-2 win over Lepton.

Division 3 leaders Meltham were shocked by AFC Dalton, who thumped them 5-0 at home. Hade Edge lost 2-1 to Deighton. Sporting Cav beat Brook Motors 7 2.

Mount went five points clear at the top of Division 4, edging out Flockton in a seven-goal thriller. Kennedy struck the winner for Mount. Brighouse Athletic saw off Uppermill in a 4-3 win.

In the FA Trophy Shelley Developmen­t knocked out Kirkburton 2-1. Netherton stay top of Reserve Division 1, despite losing 6-4 to Heywood Irish Centre. Bell (three), Ryan-Hicks, Stead and Hicks scored for Heywood and Mattimoe (two) and Burnley (two) replied for Netherton. Cumberwort­h went second in Reserve Division 2 with a 5-0 win over Brook Motors. Scholes beat AFC Lindley 3-1, while Deighton moved up to fourth with a 5-2 win over Holmbridge.

Almondbury Woolpack were held to a 0-0 draw by Meltham in Reserve Division 3. Cumberwort­h A go third in a 2-1 win over Britannia Sports.

Wooldale and Scholes drew 3-3. In Reserve Division 4, Linthwaite A won 5-1 over Netherton A. Cumberwort­h B had a 5-2 win over Shelley Developmen­t. Honley A lost 4-1 to Fothergill and Whittles A, and Deighton A beat Cartworth 4-0.
