Given Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will be able to take a break from worrying about how far they are behind when the FA Cup holders host Fulham on Sunday.

While City also have European ambitions, staying on course to retain the famous old trophy can only help build momentum.

With VAR not set to be deployed in every FA Cup fourthround tie, there will be several top-flight managers left with something else to focus their post-match tirades on.

TOWN have completed the transfer of Aaron Mooy to Premier League Brighton.

DANNY Cowley’s ex-Huddersfield Town staff man Jamie McCombe has been confirmed as leaving Lincoln City.

McCombe is now 37 and a veteran of 54 appearances in a two-year stint at the John Smith’s Stadium.

He worked with Cowley at Sincil Bank as first team coach. In fact,

McCombe managed Lincoln for three matches when Danny and Nicky Cowley left to join Town in the Championship earlier in this season.

He was not seen in the dug-out during Saturday’s win over Blackpool, however, and the club have today confirmed he has left.

A club statement read: “We can confirm that Jamie McCombe has left his post as first team coach at Lincoln City Football Club.

“The former City defender departs after four years with the club after returning as a player back in January 2016 for his second stint as part of the first team squad.

“He featured 11 times, before stepping into a player coach role in October of the same year as The Imps lifted the National League title.

“Jamie was then predominantly part of the coaching set-up from then on with The Imps.

“But he did make two cameo appearances for City in the Football League Trophy, scoring on his last appearance in a City shirt against Accrington Stanley in December 2018.

“We would like to thank Jamie for his service to the club and we wish him well for the future.”
