Brook and Bell at the double as Heywood climb to summit

HEYWOOD Irish Centre went top of Division 1 after goals from Brook (two), Bell (two) and Eastwood secured a 5-2 win over Shepley.

Linthwaite Athletic beat

Fothergill and Whittles 5-1, while a Barber winner saw Skelmantho­rpe beat Holmbridge 1-0.

In the Barlow Cup Honley easily beat Slaithwait­e 8-1, while Dalton Dynamos lost 5-3 to Berry Brow. Scholes drew with AFC Lindley 1-1 but lost on penalties 8-7. Newsome beat neighbours Netherton 6-3.

Almondbury Woolpack regained top spot in Division 2 after a 90th minute goal from Allert gave them a 2-1 win over Holme Valley Academical­s. Randle opened the scoring for Woolpack whilst Bellas scored for the Accies. Cumberwort­h beat Britannia Sports 3-2.

Hepworth United beat Kirkheaton 4-1 and Lepton lost 2-0 at home to Junction. AFC Dalton went second in Division 3 after a 3-2 win over Deighton. Bottom club Hade Edge lost to Brook Motors 5-1 whilst Huddersfie­ld YM beat Moorside 5-1.

In the Groom Cup the tie of the day was Kirkburton’s 6-5 win over Grange Moor Saints. Goals for Burton came from Crowther, Ianzito and Toulcher who all scored two each. The Saints goals came from Wells (two) and Mayall (three).

Moorhouse and Booth scored for Flockton in their 4-2 defeat to Meltham whose goals came from Ellis-Pownall (two), Foster and Legg.

Uppermill are off the bottom of Division 4 with a 6-0 win over Almondbury Athletic.

Brighouse are up to third with goals from Parkinson (two) and Sedgewick in a 3-0 win over Cartworth Moor.

Linthwaite Athletic, leaders of Reserve Division 1, were beaten by Newsome 6-0 in the Richardson

Cup. Fothergill and Whittles knocked out Britannia Sports 6-3 and Dalton Dynamos knocked out Deighton in a 3-0 win.

In Reserve Division 1 Berry Brow beat AFC Dalton 5-3. A goal from Charnley gave Diggle their first win of the season in a 1-0 win over Shelley Developmen­t.

Cumberwort­h moved up to second in Reserve Division 2 with a 3-1 win over AFC Lindley.

Holmbridge lost to Scholes 6-1 whilst Honley beat Holme Valley Academical­s 3-0. Junction beat Brook Motors 6-1.

In Reserve Division 3 Grange Moor Saints beat Hade Edge 5-0. Cumberwort­h A beat Scholes 6-2.

Kirkburton stay top of Reserve Division 4, beating Cartworth Moor 9-1 and Hade Edge A beat Fothergill and Whittles A 4-2.

In the Gee Cup Berry Brow A beat Deighton A 3-0 whilst Meltham beat Honley A 4-0. Netherton A just beat Slaithwait­e 3-2.
