- By JOHN DAVIES Court Correspondent @Examiner

A MAN has made his first appearance before a judge after being charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Ian Scott Noble, 47, of Barber Street, Brighouse, was charged earlier this month after an incident at the Springvale Works on Elland Road in Brookfoot, Brighouse.

Noble, who appeared via a video link to HMP Leeds where he is remanded in custody, was committed to the Bradford Crown

Court by magistrates on charges of wounding Stuart Syme with intent to do him grievous bodily, assaulting Mr Syme and damaging an office window belonging to Booth Wire Products.

The offences are alleged to have been committed on February 4.

During a hearing yesterday before Judge Jonathan Rose, Noble was not asked to enter his pleas to the charges and his barrister Abdul Shakoor said a psychiatrist had been instructed.

Mr Shakoor said his client had not yet been seen by the psychiatrist and Judge Rose set down a timetable for the service of any such evidence.

The judge also fixed a trial date for Noble’s case and told him would have to remain in custody until that hearing on August 3.

“Mr Noble I have set a date for your trial on the 3rd of August this year,” said the judge.

“In the meantime doctors are going to see you to assess your health. Those reports are very important for the court process so you have to co-operate with them.”

Springvale Engineering Ltd, whose principal trading address was given as Springvale Works, ceased trading after liquidators were appointed last December.
