Gavet to return for Warriors test

- By JOE BUCK

DESPITE a comfortable 22-4 victory over Hull KR on Friday, Giants did suffer a couple of injuries on the night, notably to Darnell McIntosh and James Gavet.

Head coach Simon Woolford revealed that both players haven’t suffered major problems and also provided an update on the return of Jordan Turner.

He said: “Darnell is nothing serious, whether he makes this week (against Wigan on Sunday) or not we’re not too sure, it just depends on how he responds to treatment, but I’d like to think at the very worst Darnell will only miss a week.

“James looks okay at the moment but you can’t be too careful with neck injuries and so we took all the precautions, but he was up and walking around afterwards and so James is looking okay for this week.

“Jordan will come back in, he ran on

Monday and got through everything, so he’ll have a modified session with the team today and I’d expect him to be in full training tomorrow and take his place in the team, which is pleasing.

“We’ve got a relatively fit squad – we’ve got players chomping at the bit to get an opportunity, which is good.”

There is also some positive news about Leroy Cudjoe’s return with Woolford expecting him to return to training imminently.

“Leroy [Cudjoe] is still progressing really, really well so I’d expect him to come into full training in the next little bit and once that happens, we need to work out a plan of action for him where he gets some game time.”
