University links to Bahrain putting town in bad light

Governments seem to be more concerned about the virus than any before. Bring restrictions in now before it is too late.

It’s only the same as the flu. What is the drama? And by the way, you only die when your time is up.

AS a former university lecturer I find it truly appalling that the University of Huddersfield willingly associates itself with the barbarous regime of Bahrain, which has been repeatedly condemned by the United Nations for its use of torture.

This is another left-over aspect of having Prince Andrew as Chancellor. The Prince went to Bahrain to inaugurate in 2018 a University course taught at a centre used for the torture of political dissidents.

Shamefully, University lecturers teach the Masters degree in the very same building where dissidents have been subjected to torture, including electric shocks and severe beatings to the face and genitals.

Bahrain has a documented record of murdering regime opponents through excessive use of torture.

Questions have been raised in the House of Commons about this relationship and human rights groups have called on the University to end the multi-million pound contract.

The Emeritus Chancellor of the University, Sir Patrick Stewart,

needs to intervene to stop a practice which commentators have said not only reflects badly on the University but also on Huddersfield, whose name is now being associated with the scandal around the world.

The University seems to have a habit of embroiling itself in scandals and refusing to deal with them honestly and correctly.

Is Boris just basking in his position of PM?

INTERESTING that the proud Brexiteer choses to remain anonymous 22).

Also interesting them saying “empty vessels make the most noise” when the Leave campaign made plenty of noise with its empty promises.

It will be interesting to see if the inveterate liar now in Downing Street intends to deliver the sunlit uplands, or just bask in his achievement of becoming PM.
