Astonished by numbers who don’t wash hands
WE are being reminded, in view of the coronavirus, that simple handwashing is an effective tool in preventing infection.
I am frequently astonished and disgusted at the number of men I see leaving public conveniences without washing their hands.
Not unrelated, I am concerned at the rise of touchscreen ordering in store cafes and fast food outlets. Considering that some of the aforementioned gents (and no doubt ladies) may have visited the toilets first, I am unwilling to use these devices.
Perhaps the businesses should consider installing hand sanitisers alongside the touch screens. Otherwise, it’s back to the washbasins after placing the order. nearly every year since, sometimes twice or three times.
I am now 93 and my son took me last September to Sand Bay Holiday Village in Westonsuper-Mare and I still love it.
We paid £125 each for four nights - good food, very friendly people. People who don’t think they would like these places have never been.
I’ve never been abroad.
Do town centre up a bit at a time
I HAVE two things to say. Firstly,
Barry Sheerman talks about yobs. When they catch them they should be put in stocks in St George’s Square for people to humiliate.
Second, instead of millions of pounds being spent in Huddersfield town centre, the council should fix the potholes and get the road markings redone.
Then do the town up a bit at a time.
Give details of blocked drains
FURTHER to a recent photo showing a blocked drain in Lindley I have been corresponding with my local councillor on this same matter.
The response from the council asked me to provide full location details and this would then be attended to, as they do not have the resources to check the drains for the whole area.
I suggest anyone concerned about blocked drains sends in the relevant information so action can be taken to alleviate flooding problems.
Protecting Salmond is a waste of officers
NEXT time I hear a senior police officer crying about the lack of police officers, I will be more than happy to provide them with evidence of police wasting manpower and resources.
Case in point being: 10 police officers in hi-vis attire chaperoning has-been politician Alex Salmond to his High Court trial to answer to multiple charges of sexual molestation and attempted rape brought by the CPS.
