Crash victim Keegan weeks away from her 21st birthday

FAMILY AND FRIENDS PAY TRIBUTE AFTER TRAGIC

A YOUNG woman who died in a horror BMW smash was just weeks away from celebratin­g her 21st birthday.

Keegan Egdell, 20, a former pupil at Honley High, was a rear passenger in the white BMW Coupe when it crashed into a wall on the B6108 Huddersfie­ld Road heading towards Meltham.

Another passenger, a man in his 20s, was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

Keegan’s death has left her family and friends devastated and there has been a huge outpouring of grief.

Megan Foxley wrote on Facebook: “Absolute diamond. My heart goes out to all her family&friends. She was truly an amazing person and she’s going to be missed by many. Sleep well princess keegs.”

Kevin Offord added: “Rest in paradise beautiful. Still not come to terms yet, miss you already! And you’re little annoying laugh. I miss that laugh. I love you always my forever friend.”

Courtney Taylor wrote: “The most caring, funny, amazing & beautiful soul. Taken away way too early. Hope you’re partying hard up there!”

Kirsty Lou wrote: “R.I.P To a beautiful young lady Keegan you touched many hearts sadly taken too soon. Love to your family I send my thoughts and condolence­s to all xx”

Police are appealing for informatio­n over the crash.

In a statement West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Huddersfie­ld in the early hours of Saturday morning (07/03). At around 3.15am on Saturday officers were called to a report of a single vehicle collision on B6108 Huddersfie­ld Road.

“A white BMW Coupe car was travelling in the direction of Meltham when it collided with a wall at the junction of Crossland Spring Road.

“A passenger in the vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was fatally injured in the collision.

“A man in his 20s, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the limit.

“He has now been released under investigat­ion pending continuing enquiries.

“Officers in the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact officers. Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle driving in the area prior to the collision.”
