COLLIN Quaner has been a fans’ favourite at Huddersfield Town – but has he played his last game for the club?

With no-one knowing at this stage whether Danny Cowley’s side will play another game this season, it could be the popular 28-year-old won’t get chance to wear the blue and white stripes again.

The same could be said for Danny Simpson, who has done a solid job under Cowley this season since signing as a freeagent to the end of the campaign.

Discounting the loan players for obvious reasons, Quaner and Simpson are the only players with Town at the moment whose terms expire on June 30.

Other players are out of contract the end of this season but Town have the option to extend their terms by a further 12 months – goalkeepers Joel Coleman, Ryan Schofield, Demeaco Duhaney, Jon Gorenc Stankovic and Elias Kachunga.

Quaner signed from Union Berlin in January 2017 and has made 57 appearances.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich, where he was a team-mate of Trevoh Chalobah, but returned and played two matches at the beginning of this season under ex-head coach Jan Siewert.

He has been out while recovering from hip surgery, however, and has never actually played a game for Cowley.

HUDDERSFIELD Town accept there will be massive interest in striker Karlan Grant in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has become a firm fans’ favourite since signing in a £2m deal from Charlton Athletic in January 2019, bagging 20 goals in the Premier League and Championship.

Grant is well ahead in the current scoring charts for Danny Cowley’s side, with Steve Mounie netting exactly half of Grant’s total of 16 for the campaign.

Town turned down a £15m offer for Grant during the January transfer window, indicating he wanted to stay at the club and help the Terriers try and achieve Championship status for next term.

West Brom, Aston Villa and Fulham have been reported as having an interest in him.

So how does his record compare with Town striker favourites of the past?

Where does he rank alongside Andy Booth, Marcus Stewart, Jordan Rhodes and Nahki Wells?

Well, Grant has scored 20 senior goals for the club in 48 league and cup appearances (five from the bench). Thirteen of Grant’s appearances were in the Premier League, where he scored four times. The rest of his goals have all come in the Championship, while he failed to score in his only FA Cup appearance for

Town, this season at Southampton. Grant, in fact, has a better record than Wells and Stewart over the first 48 games of their Town careers – both those players netted 18 times over that spell compared with Grant’s 20.

Booth was just a youngster emerging from the club’s old Youth Training Scheme (pre-Academy) when he played his first games, with Iwan Roberts and Phil Starbuck leading the attack.

So his first 48 appearances included 14 from the bench, and Boothy netted 12 goals.

The last of those appearances, however, were at the very start of the 1994-95 play-off promotion winning campaign when he netted
