COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR IS LATEST SENIOR FIGURE TO LEAVE THE TERRIERS

- By STEVEN CHICKEN

COMMERCIAL director Sean Jarvis will leave Town this summer to take up the chief executive role at Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Jarvis joined the Terriers from Oldham Athletic in 2006, initially working on both Town and the Huddersfield Giants.

In 2008 Town became his sole focus and he joined the club’s board of directors in June 2009.

As commercial director he has been responsible for the club’s sponsorship, advertising, hospitality, partnerships, ticket office and retail activities.

Jarvis has become well-known to supporters as one of the few senior figures at Town who is openly active on his own personal Twitter account and regularly fields fan questions about the club.

Last year Jarvis – a Leicestershire native – joined the cricket club’s board as a non-executive director. He will step up into their CEO job from June 23.

Jarvis said: “It’s been an amazing journey, with so many fantastic memories to cherish.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the board, managers, players, supporters, businesses and everyone else who has supported me since I joined the club. I have made so many friends over the past 14 years and I look forward to watching Town from the terraces.

“Town will always have a special place in my heart.”

Terriers chairman Phil Hodgkinson commented: “On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Sean for the big contribution he has made to Huddersfield Town during his tenure.

“14 years is a long time in one place in any walk of life, but particularly in football, and he deserves real recognition for his work at the club.

“He’ll always be a friend to this football club and I’m sure everyone wishes him the best of luck as he embarks upon his next challenge.”

Jarvis will be the latest in a series of senior figures to leave the club over the past 15 months following chief executive Julian Winter, sporting director Olaf Rebbe and non-executive director Roger Burnley, while former chairman Dean Hoyle left that post after selling 75 per cent of the club to Hodgkinson. Also leaving this summer will be the current head of football operations, David Webb.
