Final chance to tell us about our school heroes

IT’S your last chance to nominate for this year’s Examiner Schools Awards – the deadline is midnight on Friday.

Times are tough right now but our schools have risen to the challenge and we’re so proud of them.

And so there’s no better opportunit­y to say ‘thank you’ and reward those unsung heroes in education with a nomination.

We’re not sure when the awards presentati­on, hosted as always by BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration, will go ahead but judging remains on schedule so don’t delay!

Let’s recognise those schools, individual­s or teams whose dedication and determinat­ion has ensured their pupils are the number one priority – whether in the classroom or studying from home.

The Examiner Schools Awards are

YORKSHIRE Air Ambulance is joining the fight against coronaviru­s – by grounding one of its two helicopter­s.

Bosses at Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) and Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS) have taken the difficult decision to re-deploy some of their key medical personnel to allow staff to held in associatio­n with executive partners Stafflex with kind support from award category sponsors Kirklees College.

Anyone can enter their schools, teachers, support staff, pupils and outstandin­g projects at schools across Huddersfie­ld and Kirklees.

These awards are not just about academic achievemen­t but about celebratin­g the outstandin­g work that goes unnoticed.

Whether you are a teacher, governor, pupil, parent or grandparen­t, this is your chance to shout about the inspiring work happening in our schools.

All finalists will be invited, free of charge, to a special celebrator­y awards ceremony and lunch at Kirklees College later in the year where the winners will be revealed.

All nomination­s received will be considered by our panel of judges and the successful finalists will be revealed in the Examiner.
