Barry ’bitter’? Maybe but he has a point over Boris

-

OUR local MP, Barry Sheerman, is getting some flak, “bitter and twisted” and “inhumane” to name just a few remarks.

Of course Barry should have congratulated Boris and Carrie on the safe birth of their son and that they have both recovered from this dreadful virus and will happily be able to raise him.

However Boris has a very colourful past – remember the plates thrown at his head over the red wine stain on Carrie’s white sofa?

He was staying with her as he was homeless – wife Marina had chucked him out!

She and their four children do not have contact with him.

Also there is at least one child from his other liaisons.

I do not think l am alone in questioning Boris’ morals and l think once this pandemic is over there will be some deep digging into his past. That is sadly the nature of politics!

Barry should have offered his congratulations but he should not have suffered the abuse for what many are thinking!

What is definition of child poverty?

HAVING read Barry Sheerman’s article in Monday’s would it be possible for him to actually state how much is the level of income that means child poverty.

I am one of seven children; my mother stayed home my father worked in textiles – they had no car, no phone, no central heating and rented from the council.

The only benefit they got was free school meals for one child, we always had a summer holiday and were fed and clothed, yes clothes were handed down the family but we were clothed, no branded stuff and mum used to knit a lot.

So come on Mr Sheerman, give us a figure as to what you call child poverty. It seems that in this day and age mobile phones, cars and designer labels seem to have priority over food.

Be open-minded yet sceptical over views

MR. Corcoran claims letters, April 30) that the truth was the first victim of the virus.

He has previously claimed that there is a worldwide conspiracy to suppress information about a possible cure for Covid 19.

I think that it is important to point out to readers that Mr. Corcoran’s claims are supported by websites that specialise in conspiracy theories, antisemitism and racism.

Please don’t be keeping us indoors

A GREY lockdown? I could not agree more – we need to make our feelings known to the Government, we can not allow this to happen.
