People line streets in tribute to tragic mum
THE people of Mirfield responded to a call to line the streets in memory of a mum-of-two killed in a car crash last month.
Danielle Broadhead sadly passed away after a horror road accident on the main road into Flockton on April 20.
Her two young sons, Jesse and Jaxon, were in the car – one is seven and the other just 22-months-old.
The seven-year-old was slightly hurt but the toddler suffered serious but not life threatening head injuries, police said at the time.
A funeral was held for Danielle, 33, at St Mary’s Church in Mirfield yesterday afternoon where some of her family are based. With attendance limited by the coronavirus pandemic, people were asked to line the streets of the funeral procession to pay tribute the popular care worker.
Danielle’s coffin was brought through Lower Hopton to the Hopton Cottages Care Home where she had worked for many years, before travelling through the centre of Mirfield and along West Royd Avenue before heading to St Mary’s on Church Lane.
Dozens of mourners dressed in black walked the route while many more responded to the request to come out of their homes to show their support to the family.
In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe page was set up to support Danielle’s children and partner Steve, with almost 300 people donating a total of more than £8,700.

Danielle’s former boss, director of Hopton Cottage Care Home, Joseph Martin.
He commented: “It was a wonderful send-off today but heartbreaking for our team here after a decade of friendship and companionship.
“We’re making our own contribution from Hopton Cottage which includes donations from families and this will total several thousand.
“Danielle was the best carer we had and she was friend and mentor to everyone.
“We all really loved her.”
West Yorkshire Police confirmed today that it was still investigating the circumstances of the accident that claimed Danielle’s life.
It has not yet revealed if any other vehicles were involved.
An inquest to establish the cause of the collision will be held in the coming months.
