Mr Dorrill, may I offer a solution to your problem?

ANOTHER childish whinge from Stephen Dorrill

May 11).

Covid-19 will make sure the Brexit dream of reviving a “Great” Britain is finished. Dead as a parrot, and the referendum vote is now invalid.

He said Remainers always thought the idea stupid, and now they have been proved right. By using the word “they” does he isolate himself from their conclusion? What dross, where is the proof, noone can be sure of the future.

Covid-19 could be prevalent for years according to some scientists, that’s why a vaccine is so important.

He claims that the EU countries dealt with Covid-19 better, but the Government has now provided financial support to the business sector, the social sector and workers probably more than any other country. The Chancellor estimates the debt could reach £600bn which will have to be repaid in the future.

This is not new, after World

War II Great Britain had to repay our war debts, and rebuild the the cities Hitler tried to bomb into submission, in particular London, Coventry and Liverpool. The costs were gigantic, but the challenge was completed, and so will this new challenge. Great Britain will survive.

The Queen made this quite clear when she addressed the nation on VE Day 2020, when she paid tribute to those whose lives were lost in the war.

The Queen said she took pride in the fact that “we are still a nation those brave soldiers, sailors and airmen would recognise and admire”.

Dorrill has been too long in his comfort zone to appreciate the proud history of Great Britain.

I question whether he still thinks this is an insignificant island and the immediate future looks bleak, if so I offer him the solution – emigrate.
