“We tune into Zoom and do a session together and have a little chat.

“We do the same with gym sessions. When you’re on your own at home, it’s good to see familiar faces.

“We’re kind of in limbo at the moment, not knowing what’s going to happen and when it’s going to start up again.

“We’ve been completing sessions but the first couple of weeks were difficult.

“In the last few weeks, as it’s getting closer, I’m getting my sessions done early as I can so I get some structure about my day.”

O’Brien has also been giving video calls to Town’s players in the academy and as someone who has made the transition from youngster to the first team in recent years, he sees it as an important part in helping to give something back to the club and the academy which helped him come through the ranks.

He added: “For me to be in the meeting was a massive thing.

“To get asked to be in one of those meetings, from where I’ve come from through the academy, is massive.

“It’s a big thing because they can look at me as a pathway because I’ve come from the academy.

“Being present in the meeting was a massive thing for them because they got to ask me questions about my time in the academy and stepping into the first team.

“I think it helped them a lot.”

PREMIER League football is on course to resume from the middle of June according to Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden - and some matches could return on free-to-air TV.

The league has been suspended since early March due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the

UK.

The Bundesliga in Germany returned to action at the weekend with strict testing procedures in place for players and officials with the games played behind closed doors.

Plans are now in place for a Premier League return, with June 19 seen as the target date.

The Championship has yet to settle on a recommencement date but plans have been mooted for a June return as well.

Mr Dowden says he is confident of meeting that date, with the plan to show some of the matches on freeto-air TV in an attempt to keep people at home.

“I had some very constructive discussions on Thursday with the FA, the EFL and the Premier League,” he said.

“We are working hard to get it back in mid-June but the number one test is public safety.

“If we can do this in a safe way... they are looking at returning behind closed doors and they have met with Public Health England several times to look at the safety of that.

“If we can sort that out then I am hoping we can resume in mid-June.

“We are also hoping to have something a bit more ambitious with a bit more free-to-air matches available.

“People can watch from home which will be helpful in discouraging people from leaving their homes in order to watch it, which we don’t want to happen.”

Sky Sports and BT Sport are the main rights holders of the

Premier League and EFL and would retain the lion’s share of games.
