Has to be played to finish

-

MANAGER DANNY COWLEY: has to finish [with the remaining games played] and it should finish for the integrity of football.

“If we had a personal agenda then it might be to finish the season [now] in the precarious position we’re in, but I love football and I believe it should be finished.

“I really hope we can find a way to do that, ideally in front of supporters, and if that’s not possible then behind closed doors but making sure our supporters still have access to see the games.

“Football is nothing without the people.

“We have a brilliant football pyramid, the strongest in the world in my opinion, and as a nation we should be very very proud of that. We have to do everything we can to try to protect its integrity, and that means finishing the season to its fruition.”

FORMER CHAIRMAN DEAN HOYLE: ”For the integrity of the game, the season should be brought to a head but at the same time it feels really immoral and wrong that we’re talking about resuming football.

“It’s totally wrong to be talking relegation and promotion,

Champions League places and Premier League title when there are hundreds of people dying each day across the UK and many more fighting for their lives.

“What should happen is that this season is just drawn to the close because there are bigger things to worry about.

“And if the season continues behind closed doors, that is also very dangerous.

“Then you are asking players to have a contact sport, they’re going home to young family or elderly parents.”
