Six test positive in Prem

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Danny Cowley and his assistant, brother Nicky, have been busy scouting German football during lockdown ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Terriers’ management team have been poring over footage from Bundesliga 2 with an eye on recruitment for next season.

They duo are impressed by the German contingent already in place at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Club skipper Christopher Schindler’s mentality has been something that has impressed the Cowley brothers, as has the approach of the other members of the Terriers squad to have plied their trade in German football.

SIX people connected to three unnamed Premier League clubs have tested positive for coronavirus as sides return to small group training amid the pandemic.

The league won’t release the name of the clubs involved or the individuals, who could be players or club staff.

The 748 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Sunday and Monday as part of the league’s partnership with the

Prenetics consortium, and are due to take place twice a week from now on.

Forty tests will be carried out at each club in each session.

The league said in a statement: “The Premier League can today confirm that on Sunday 17 May and Monday 18 May, 748 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19.

“Of these, six have tested positive from three clubs.

“Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

“The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

“No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public in this way after each round of testing.”

Town players and staff are due to undergo testing either tomorrow or Friday as the club look to return to training as early as next week with the hope that the Championship season can restart next month.

All games will be behind closed doors.
