SUSTAINABLE CHEEKY PANDA PRODUCTS ARE HELPING TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT

-

As conversations around Covid-19 turn towards life after lockdown, one point in particular keeps cropping up on the agendas of economists, politicians and individuals alike – the desperate need to shift towards greener practices when creating our ‘new normal’.

The devastating crisis has made us all stop and think about the world we inhabit, and the elements of lockdown – such as cleaner waters, less traffic on the roads and a greater appreciation of the world around us – that we want to work towards retaining post-coronavirus.

In fact, a YouGov poll published last month revealed that only nine per cent of Brits actually want life to return to ‘normal’ once the current measures are lifted, after noticing significant environmental changes during lockdown.

And the great news is, we don’t have to wait for governments and big businesses to introduce wholesale changes. Instead, there are some really simple things that we can all do right now to reduce the impact we’re having on the planet.

Actively choosing to buy everyday items from environmentally conscious businesses is just one way we can do our bit, and there are many forward-thinking brands that have been quietly working behind the scenes for years to produce sustainably sourced items that don’t cost the earth.

Family firm The Cheeky Panda, which uses bamboo to create its Amazon No 1 bestselling range of sustainably sourced toilet paper, kitchen roll, napkins and wipes, is one such example. While a staggering 27,000 trees are destroyed to produce toilet tissue every single day, bamboo can simply be cut and harvested each year without causing any damage to the root. Over the past four years, The Cheeky Panda’s use of bamboo in their products has saved over 85,000 trees – around the size of 233 football pitches – that would

otherwise have been felled for tissue products, safeguarding the habitats of countless animals around the world in the process.

And while consumers who have bought the range of products from Morrisons, Boots, Superdrug, Booths, WH Smith, Holland & Barrett and Amazon have raved about the quality, environmental big hitters have also awarded The Cheeky Panda their own seal of approval, with the range becoming the first in the UK to be certified by both the Vegan Society and Cruelty Free International.

The company is even ahead of the game when it comes to lockdown provision, with boxes of up to 48 toilet rolls available to order from The Cheeky Panda website, allowing customers to stock up without leaving the house, safe in the knowledge that both the product and its packaging are plastic free.
