Normality is something we all look forward to

-

My school has been full of key worker children for the last 9 weeks, children from every single year. Not just a handful of keyworker children either, there have been over 100 children. Not one child, mine included has come out of that school ‘traumatised’ by the 2m distance rule. Not one teacher has worn a mask either even though they have spent 9 weeks looking after the most high risk children. This is a school taking guidance too far and scaring parents!

IT has been a while since the last one, so I’m sure some readers will be pleased to see a letter from RJ Bray May 20). In recent times, RJ seems to have been a less prolific contributor to the letters page than in days gone by. A cynic might suggest, this may be as a result of him now using Twitter to convey his thoughts on some subjects.

By his usual standards, RJ’s letter seems quite weak. A spot of BBC bashing to deflect attention away from reality is hardly novel – some might say a mere panacea for the gullible, who would prefer to stick their fingers in their ears and sing la, la, la, la, la, as the Covid 19 death toll continues to mount, fuelled in part by government mistakes and incompetence.

I think one thing RJ and I could probably agree on is that it would be good to get back to some kind of normal, whatever that might be, in the months ahead. This might then allow more mundane matters to proceed such as the long-awaited inquiry by the Conservatives into Islamaphobia in their party.

I am sure all fair-minded people of any political persuasion,or none, would agree that racism should always be called out,and rooted out, wherever it exists. What say you, RJ?

Why are school teachers so special?
