Stockley’s shock at virus test
PRESTON striker Jayden Stockley has spoken of his shock at having tested positive for Covid 19.
Ten individuals at eight Championship clubs have been found to have the virus in the latest rounds of tests.
A total of 1,058 players and staff - including at Huddersfield Town - were tested on
Thursday and Friday. All of those who were found to have the virus will begin selfisolating.
Middlesbrough, Cardiff and Fulham have all confirmed one positive test.
Stockley said he had felt ‘brilliant’ in training and having shown no symptoms and recorded a negative result in the first two batches of tests, says he was stunned when he was told.
“It came as a complete shock. I got a call from the doctor when I came back from training,” said Stockley.
“I felt brilliant in training, put a good session in and his number came up.
“We were aware we would get a call if our test was positive and I was thinking ‘no, surely not’, but he told me and it was a surreal moment.
“You feel like you are untouchable and you are going to ride through it.”
Stockley, 26, is said to be ‘asymptomatic and feeling no ill effects’ and will now be re-tested before he can return to training.
Lower down the EFL there were seven positive tests confirmed in League Two.
That round of testing covered four clubs and 135 individuals from the teams who are currently in the play-off spots.
DANNY Cowley has revealed he and brother Nicky have been using their time in lockdown to focus on recruitment for next season at Huddersfield Town.
There still remains an element of doubt over which league the Terriers will be playing in next season as they sit 18th and just two points
