Two arrested after shooting in early hours
DETECTIVES have made two arrests after a man was shot in Lockwood.
The 34-year-old victim needed hospital treatment after being shot in the shoulder outside The Woolpack apartments on Lockwood Road, Huddersfield, at 12.50am on Saturday.
Officers executed a number of warrants across Huddersfield over the weekend and arrested an 18-year-old male on Sunday and a 21-year-old man on Monday morning.
Both remain in custody and are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detectives have said they are still very keen to speak to witnesses regarding the incident, which witnesses said came after an illegal lockdown party which up to 30 people attended.
Det Chf Insp Vanessa Rolfe, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, said: “We continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry in this investigation and have made arrests with suspects being questioned.
“We are still appealing for witnesses, however, and I urge anyone who may have information which could assist us to come forwards.”
Det Supt Jim Griffiths, of Kirklees District Police, said: “Any offence of violence and particularly those where firearms are used is a key focus for policing in Kirklees.
“Our local officers are being supported in this enquiry by specialist officers from our HMET and central firearms teams.
“We have been updating as many local community contacts as we can regarding this investigation and our focus is on stopping this type of violence within Kirklees.
“In order to do this, we must have the support of our local communities and we need information, no matter how small it may seem, to let us piece together what is happening and how we can prevent further incidents such as this.”
