Stabbing after man broke into house
VICTIM REFUSED TO HAND OVER CASH
A MAN was stabbed “multiple times” after refusing to hand over money to a robber who invaded a home in Huddersfield.
Police have cordoned off a property in Armitage Road, Birkby, with forensics at the scene after a violent robbery on Sunday night.
West Yorkshire Police say a man entered the house and demanded that the three men within it give him money.
When one of them refused, the robber retaliated by stabbing his victim before fleeing the scene, with one eyewitness reporting that he ran away towards Norwood Road with a duffle bag in his grasp.
A spokesman for police said: “Police were called at around 10.48pm to a report of a robbery at a property on Armitage Road.
“The suspect entered the address and demanded three men within the property hand over money.
“When one of the men refused, the suspect stabbed one of the men.
“The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“The suspect made off in an unknown direction.”
This morning, the house was wrapped in a cordon and one officer could be seen standing guard outside the property while another detective took pictures of the house.
Police are now trying to trace the knifeman and anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or anyone who saw the suspect flee the area should call the force immediately.
