Teenage gang causing chaos in community HEADTEACHER OF SCHOOL TAKES MATTER UP WITH MP AFTER REPORTS OF ANTI-SOCIAL YOBS
GANGS of up to 30 teenagers are causing misery for a Huddersfield community.
The headteacher of Shepley First School has now called for an end to unruly teenagers plaguing residents with their anti-social behaviour on an evening.
In an open letter to the community Fran Bowman says the groups of 15-17-year-olds are often on Firth Street with alcohol and food for the evening.
She said the groups of 30 teenagers from Shepley and other villages are causing havoc in the playground.
She says the problems caused include bad language and music being played so loudly that people cannot enjoy sitting out in their gardens.
In addition the school has CCTV images of them urinating.
There is also a concern that social distancing measures are being ignored and the caretaker is having to clean up all the mess every morning. The teenagers are also risking injury to themselves by climbing onto the white shelter and bike shed roofs and causing damage to them.
Ms Bowman said: “This has to stop. It is unacceptable to our neighbours who have to keep their windows shut and can’t sit in their gardens.
“It is unacceptable that we are clearing up each day after anti-social behaviour on our grounds. This is trespassing and causing damage.”
Ms Bowman says she has been in touch with a Kirklees councillor and the local MP about the matter and is looking at holding a meeting to see what can be done.
