Forward thinking is key to Lewis helping Terriers find the net

DANNY Cowley has a forwardthi­nking game plan which could result in Lewis O’Brien paving the way to more Town goals.

The 21-year-old looked jaded against Luton (he wasn’t the only one) despite being rested to the bench in the previous match against Reading.

O’Brien returned with a more purposeful 90 minutes in the goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborou­gh, however, and notably in a more advanced position.

Right from the off he caused Wednesday problems by driving forward with the ball and, with him being more advanced, it made it almost a 4-3-3 formation, with O’Brien playing almost alongside Emile Smith Rowe rather than behind him.

O’Brien completed four dribbles at Hillsborou­gh, which was more than anyone else on the pitch. Against Luton, he completed none.

Cowley explained it was all part of the Hillsborou­gh game plan, and maybe one which, in future, could help prompt more goalscorin­g opportunit­ies for a team who have failed to find the net in four straight games and 378 minutes of Championsh­ip football.

“We were away from home against a very good Sheffield Wednesday team, and we created half and clear-cut chances,” said the manager, whose team are back in action against West Brom at 5.30pm on Friday.
