Transfer window date set for Championship

-

THE EFL have confirmed that the summer transfer window will open for 10 weeks from July 27 and ending on October 5.

Before the coronavirus pandemic struck, the transfer window in England was originally scheduled to open on June 8.

And now the EFL have confirmed that, subject to formal ratification, the summer window will open the day after the

Premier League season comes to an end.

The EFL have also confirmed that an agreement is also in place with the Premier League for an extended two-week domestic only window which will close at 5pm on Friday, October 16.

“The EFL has confirmed the opening and closing dates for the 2020 summer transfer window,” a statement from the EFL read.

“Subject to formal ratification, the transfer window will open fully on Monday, July 27, although any player registered before the completion of the 2019/20 season will not be eligible to play for their new club until season 2020/21 commences. This is applicable to clubs involved in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

“The window for international registrations closes at 11pm on Monday, October 5, with an agreement in place with the Premier League for an extended two-week domestic only window which will close at 5pm on Friday 16 October.”

UEFA last month recommended that its member associations agree to close their summer transfer windows in unison on October 5.
