New images in police hunt for knife attackers

POLICE are looking for two men after a 27-year-old was stabbed in the back in Huddersfie­ld earlier this month.

The man was attacked in Swan Lane at around 10.37pm on July 3 and suffered a stab injury to his back, needing hospital treatment as a result of the attack.

West Yorkshire Police officers initially arrested a man on suspicion of wounding but he has been released without charge.

At the time of the attack a resident, who lives near the crime scene, said: “There was a young lad stabbed in the left side of his lower back.

“Police were at the scene until the early hours of this morning taking pictures and assessing the crime scene.”

Extensive inquiries are under way to find whoever is responsibl­e and police have issued pictures of two men they want to speak to in connection with the stabbing.

DC Vicky Foley of Kirklees CID, said: “We are continuing to investigat­e this serious assault and have now issued images of two men who we want to speak with in connection with the attack.

“Any attack with a knife could easily have extremely serious consequenc­es and although the victim in this case has now been discharged from hospital, he continues to suffer from a great deal of pain.”
