Pritchard still has a lot more to come for Town - Cowley
DANNY Cowley says Alex Pritchard is driving himself back towards regular Huddersfield Town action.
Even though there are only two matches left of the current campaign, next season isn’t too far away and the midfielder needs to put a frustrating 2019-20 behind him.
Now 27, the former Tottenham and Norwich midfielder would have expected to play more than 17 times this season, but he’s been dogged by injury and the need to be careful in his rehabilitation.
Another who is contracted until the end of next season, with the club having the option of adding a further 12 months, Pritchard now needs minutes on the pitch and make the most of those to prove he can be influential in the Terriers’ new future.
“Alex has worked really, really hard to get himself back into a good physical condition,” said Town boss Cowley.
“It’s not easy when you have missed as much of the season as Alex has missed, and had such a stop-start season.
“He is an ultra-talented player, very balanced and can play off both feet.
“Alex has got an amazing turning circle, an ability to change direction and to make things happen.
“He is working really hard in the areas he needs to, to be able to play at his best, but it’s not always about the physical, technical and tactical, it’s also about the psychological and he is working really hard on his mindset to get himself in a really positive place.
“The psychological side of the game, particularly at this stage of the season and the position we are in, shouldn’t be underestimated.
