Scott hopes to hit highs with loan to the Shrews
MIDFIELD prospect Scott High is on the verge of a season-long loan from Town to Shrewsbury Town.
He will link up at League One Shrewsbury with coach Dean Whitehead, who knows the 19-year-old well from his Academy days at PPG Canalside.
High, who spent a loan at Concord Rangers in the National League last season, made his Town Championship debut as a substitute in the final match of the season at Millwall.
Typically operating as a ballplaying No6, Town will be hoping High benefits in the same way as Lewis O’Brien did when he went out on loan to Bradford City the season before last.
The Sheffield-based player is thought of as very much one for the future at Town under Carlos Corberan.
High signed his first professional deal in February 2018 and agreed an extension last year that will keep him with the club until June 2022.
Captain of the Under 19s, he amassed the most appearances of any player in the Academy system, turning out on 43 occasions for the Elite Development and Under 19 sides – scoring seven goals the season before last.
High got his first taste of senior matchday involvement last December.
Decimated by injuries in the camp, the former Terriers manager Danny Cowley recalled four players from non-league loans and put them all in the matchday 18 for the Championship derby against Leeds United at the John Smith’s.
CARLOS Corberan says having the character to win will be at the forefront of his Town team profile.
The new head coach has been brought in to spearhead Town’s fresh vision following Championship survival last season.
