There is no such place as Kirklees ... just towns

-

Would all this be needed if the track and trace system was working really well? People don’t have an incentive to self isolate if required, apart from common decency. The track and trace system needs to work so much better.

I KEEP on saying it, there is no place called Kirklees.

Burnley is a town that has gone into lockdown.

Huddersfield should judged on its own.

Kirklees is the name of the Council. They tried to get rid of names by sticking Welcome to Kirklees signs everywhere. After long protests, they had to concede, and returned the old town name plate.

I remember our MP, Barry Sheerman, on a photo call when this was done, though it was no thanks to him. There are still Kirklees signs at Flockton and other boundaries though.

The Government should not lump all our towns under council control as one area.

I’ll say it as it is, but it does not make me racist. The fact is, the areas where Covid 19 is spreading are within the Asian communities where there are generations living under one roof.

Our Barry is back in the news blazing a trail for face masks and pub closures. He even has the cheek to attack the Government over the pandemic. I wonder what Labour would have done? Don’t forget, when the virus broke, nobody expected the result, so trying to blame others is pathetic.

Does Our Barry know if they have removed Corbyn from the Labour Party yet?

Ignoring the rules

REGARDING the Prime Minister’s advice on social gatherings. Our neighbours where we live in HD3 have had total disregard for the instructions regarding social gatherings at their home.

Normally there are eight people living in the house next door but today the number has grown to the mid 20s, from four separate family groups.

These people gathering in the house and garden obviously have no conscience or respect for the community and their neighbours. What can be done?

Sculpture stupidity

be

CAN Kirklees Council come up with any more ridiculous ideas?

I write about the planned town centre sculptures.

These will be a nightmare for blind people to navigate around.

And how can the council pass the designs when they haven’t seen one yet?

The last sculpture I ever saw was the horse which stood in St George’s Square for a long time. I think it was on loan. Sadly it

went back to France.

Messaging is a mess

DOMINIC Cummings clearly needs to urgently sort out the Government’s Communications

Department.

Announcing the new lockdown restrictions for the North of England via Twitter less than three hours before they came into effect is another shining example of the Government’s incompetence.

I appreciate they need to move quickly, because a lot of their earlier failings have been as a result of moving too slowly, but surely they could do better than that?

Why wasn’t there a virus related Government briefing on TV at some point on Thursday?
