Freeman is not the right man to join the Terriers
Grabara, Trevoh Chalobah, Andy King and Emile Smith Rowe) plus Chris Willock from Benfica.
“I think the club did excellently in bringing in those loans, as they really helped the squad,” said Bromby.
“It’s something which has worked really well over a number of years for Huddersfield Town.
“When you look at your types like Emile Smith Rowe, they are top talent.
“And the reality of being able to sign those players (permanently) is just not there.
“So there will be an area where we will look at that (loaning from the top flight), but going forward - and this is a joint belief in the club and with Carlos - if there is a loan, we would want it to be a possible option (to make it permanent).
“Carlos can develop players and improve them so we feel we don’t want to do too many loans, that would be a strategy of the club.
“But I am not sitting here saying ‘no we won’t do that,’ because they have been successful.
“Ideally, with a coach like Carlos in charge, we want to get the player in for him to develop and improve for ourselves.”
That explanation would seem to shed doubt over a possible move for Gotts, even though he’s a player of ability. So, too, would the fact Town have just let Scott High - a genuine prospect of their own - go for League One experience at Shrewsbury Town when, just as easily, they could have kept him as part of their first-team squad to challenge for Championship games under Corberan.
REPORTS have claimed Huddersfield Town are one of a number of teams interested in securing Kieron Freeman’s signature following his release from Sheffield United last month.
The 28-year-old right-back had been with the Blades for five years, racking up 129 appearances for the club in addition to a further 12 he made on an earlier loan spell.
However, the Welsh international has struggled for game time since United’s promotion to the Premier League, appearing for just five minutes in the top-flight last season.
A move back to the Championship would therefore seem to be on the cards following his release - but we understand it is very unlikely to be with the Terriers.
Head of football operations Leigh Bromby has acknowledged that Town are in the market for a right-back following Danny Simpson’s departure in June.
However, sources close to the club indicate they do not intend to turn to Freeman to fill that gap and they will look to pursue other targets.
Florent Hadergjonaj started last season in the role but poor performances saw Simpson brought in as a free agent in September.
The Kosovan international remains on the books at Town after returning from a loan spell in the Turkish top flight, with the inexperienced Demeaco Duhaney the only other out-and-out right-back with senior minutes to his name.
Injuries, illness and Simpson’s release before the end of the season have meant Town have been forced to field several makeshift right-backs, with Juninho Bacuna, Rarmani EdmondsGreen, Trevoh Chalobah and Jon Gorenc Stankovic all filling in at various points. 18+, UK only.
