Train to work in TV industry
FREE PRODUCTION SKILLS COURSE COULD HELP PEOPLE FIND A DREAM NEW JOB
A BRAND new training programme for people in Yorkshire who want to find a job in TV has been launched.
The TV production skills course will give you all the skills you need to become a production coordinator or production manager and is taught by professionals who have years of experience in the industry.
The six-week online course, hosted by Leeds Trinity University, is being rolled out entirely free of charge to help people who have been made redundant during the Covid19 pandemic.
It is part of a wider package of free programmes from the Leeds City Region Enterprise
Partnership (LEP) and aims to give people the skills they need for their dream career.
There are also four construction course on offer, alongside a wide range of digital and engineering classes, with many of the schemes taking place at colleges all over the county.
The re[boot] initiative is available to anyone who lives in Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield or York. Eligible participants must be over the age of 18, currently in employment, furloughed, or made redundant from March 2020 onwards.
Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and leader of Bradford Council said: “We cannot underestimate the human and economic impact of Covid-19. There is potential for unemployment to rise to 14 per cent.
“That’s why we are offering [re]boot courses as a flexible way for people across West Yorkshire to continue to learn and develop new skills that are relevant to the changing labour market, vital to help the region recover from the impact of the pandemic.”
Held online or in college, the courses can be undertaken on either a part-time or full-time basis. The majority of teaching is held in the early evenings to help people fit their learning around work and family.
