Plenty of changes as league prepare for kick-off
THERE have been a few changes and a few milestones passed during the close season of the Huddersfield & District FL.
Life president Frank Beaumont celebrated 60 years of service to the league and local football.
Frank is well known and has also researched and published a book on the origins and history of the Huddersfield & District Association Football League.
Margaret Whitaker became the league’s new President for the season and the first female to hold the role.
Margaret replaced the retiring President
Melvyn Haigh. Margaret was also the league’s first female League Secretary.
Melvyn held the role of treasurer since 1977, before becoming President last season.
Neville Wordsworth becomes Chair of the league and remains the League’s Fixture Secretary. The league also congratulate him on his recent appointment to the Board of Directors at the West Riding County FA.
Jeff Mellor, a longserving stalwart from Heywoods Irish Centre FC, is our deputy Chair.
Lewis Elliott is now Treasurer, taking over from Melvyn Haigh last season. Lewis has introduced paperless billing and receipting to the league and reduces much of the paperwork previously issued to clubs in our League.
Howard Young is secretary, co-ordinating information received from The FA and our regional governing bodies. Howard is also responsible for information sent out to clubs following meetings, cup draws and referees reports.
Aidan Hopson is Registration Secretary and also the league’s Covid-19 Officer.
