A BORDER Force tip-off led to police finding three illegal weapons and a cannabis-growing operation.
Officers involved in West Yorkshire Police’s Operation Jemlock have seized two stun guns and a can of CS gas after a raid on a home in Greetland.
A 47-year-old man was arrested after the UK Border Agency provided intelligence about the illegal importation of the Taser stun gun.
The other two weapons - which are banned in this country - were found during a search of his house.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the man had been arrested on suspicion of Importation of a prohibited weapon (the intercepted Taser), Possession of S5 Firearm (Taser), Possession of S5 Firearm (CS Spray), and Production of a Class B Drug (Cannabis). He has since been released under investigation.
Police Sergeant Andrew Bingham said people needed to be careful what they were buying online. He said: “We are getting more and more interceptions from the UKBA, the anecdotal reason being that during lockdown people spent a lot of time at home doing online shopping.
“The vast majority being law abiding members of the public falling foul of the law as their curiosity has got the better of them.”
