A TEENAGER who is one of five people accused of murdering a young man in Batley and trying to murder two other males can now be named.

Nabeel Naseer is charged alongside three men and a youth over the death of Bradley Gledhill and the attempted murder of two other males.

Naseer can now be identified as he turned 18 in the past fortnight.

Mr Gledhill, 20, was stabbed during a fight on Park Croft at around 10.30pm on Sunday, June 21. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Two other males also suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries that night.

In July this year, Ahmed Karolia, 23, and Usman Karolia, 19, both of Lime Tree Avenue, Batley, and Nawaz, of Longfield Road, Heckmondwike, pleaded not guilty to murder.

The Karolias also pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder the two other males.

The attempted murder charges were not put to Nawaz, who appeared in Leeds Crown Court via video link from custody in

Manchester with Usman Karolia.

None of the charges were put to Naseer, who appeared in court via video link from custody in Wetherby, and the 16-year-old boy, who appeared in court via video link from custody in Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre in Warwickshire.

A further hearing was listed for October 2.

Ahmed Karolia appeared in court via video link from custody in Wakefield prison.

At an earlier hearing, a provisional trial date had been set for December 7 but an alternative trial date of April 12 next year was also discussed.
