Snow warning as big freeze bites
SNOW showers are possible for parts of Yorkshire this week as temperatures begin to plummet.
Forecasters have warned it will become cold and frosty from today.
And residents living in higher parts are likely to see wintry showers tomorrow and Thursday.
Huddersfield-based meteorologist Paul Stevens said: “You can see cold developing from December 3, but also significantly, there is also precipitation (rain) for Yorkshire.
“Some will fall as snow, especially to higher ground.
“I think Thursday night into Friday morning could be our first cold snowy spell.
“The freezing level would limit snow to above 900 feet but heavier precipitation will bring wintry mix lower down.”
The Met Office is forecasting cold and frosty conditions from today onwards with frequent showers, which will be wintry on hills.
Temperatures will drop to about 3C or 4C overnight for most, with highs of only 6C during the day.

This could become more widespread snow over some hills and mountains.
It will often be windy, especially around coasts, but in quieter interludes overnight there will remain the potential for some patchy frost, and isolated mist and freezing fog.
Temperatures are expected to be below average overall.
