HUDDERSFIELD TOWN will entertain League One new boys Plymouth Argyle at the John Smith’s stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.

Huddersfield were the first name to be drawn by Robbie Savage in last night’s live televised draw on the BBC.

An exact date and kick-off time has not yet been set for the match but it will be played between January 8-11.

Meanwhile, eighth-tier Marine have been drawn at home to Premier League leaders Tottenham.

Northern Premier League Division One side Marine, from Crosby on the outskirts of Liverpool, became only the second side from the eighth tier to reach the third round after beating Havant & Waterlooville after extra time on Sunday.

National League North side Chorley will play Derby at home and Stockport, of the National League, have also been handed home advantage in their tie against West Ham.

Holders Arsenal face Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium and another all-Premier League tie sees Aston Villa against Liverpool at Villa Park.

Sky Bet League Two side Crawley have been drawn to play Leeds at home and Bristol Rovers have been rewarded for thrashing Darlington 6-0 in the second round with a home tie against Sheffield United.

Last season’s beaten finalists Chelsea will play League Two side Morecambe

at Stamford Bridge and 2019 winners Manchester City will host Birmingham.

QPR face Fulham in a west London derby at Loftus Road, while Manchester United have been drawn against Watford at Old Trafford.

Champions Liverpool must travel to Aston Villa, scene of their shock 7-2 thrashing earlier this season.

Sheffield Wednesday will face Exeter City away from home, while Sheffield United will play Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

FORMULA One driver Romain Grosjean says the sport’s controversial halo device saved his life.

Grosjean sent the message from his hospital bed just hours after surviving the most dramatic accident of recent Formula One memory in Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix.

The French driver’s car split in two and burst into flames after he pierced through a steel barrier at 140mph following a collision with AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat.

Grosjean, 34, scrambled to get out of his burning wreckage for almost half a minute before leaping to safety.

The force of the impact registered at an incredible 53G, but Grosjean escaped with just minor burns to his hands.

He was airlifted to the BDF Military Hospital, 10 miles north of the Bahrain International Circuit, where he remained overnight for observation.

The halo device - a threepronged titanium protection system which sits above the driver’s head and was introduced in 2018 - played a prominent role in the Frenchman’s remarkable survival.

Grosjean had been sceptical about the introduction of the halo

On Sunday night, with both his hands in bandages and tubes monitoring his vital statistics, he said: “I wasn’t for the halo some years ago but I think it’s the greatest thing that we brought to Formula

One and without it I wouldn’t be able to speak to you today.”

The race was won by world champion Lewis Hamilton.
