STARS OF HIT TV SHOW SET TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER SERIES

- By CONNOR TEALE

THE team at a Huddersfield veterinary practice have reflected on their first year in the spotlight after it was announced they will be reprising their starring roles in The Yorkshire Vet.

Martin Paterson and his team at Donaldson’s Vets, in Almondbury, have been ever-present in the show’s most recent series, which ended this week.

And it’s now been confirmed that Martin, Matt Smith, David Melleney, Shona Searson and Rohin Aojula will remain part of the Channel 5 show for its 12th series next year, with filming already underway.

Reflecting on the practice’s “momentous year” Martin, director of Donaldson’s Vets, said: “Amongst all the challenges and worries that this year has thrown up there have also been some incredible highs.

“Without a doubt, the highlight has been giving the Yorkshire Vet’s millions of viewers access to watch our amazing team as we go about our work.

“Being a vet in Yorkshire is not ‘just a job,’ it becomes a way of life.

“Whether it is being covered from head to foot in blood, or performing the most delicate keyhole surgery, The Yorkshire Vet demonstrates that life at Donaldson’s Vets is full of challenges and is never dull.”

He added that the response from the show’s viewers “has been overwhelming.”

Vet Matt Smith, who has also experienced Gogglebox fame since appearing on The Yorkshire Vet, said appearing on the show had been “an honour”.

“To see the fruits of everyone’s labour coming together over the past few months has been tremendous and to have it so well received is wonderful,” he said.

“I have been moved by some of the responses from viewers and I hope that we can continue to share our excitement and stories into the future.

“I am proud to be part of a phenomenal team that I hope is making a difference to people in these current times.”

The final episode of The Yorkshire Vet’s most recent series aired on Tuesday and featured Peter Wright showing the Donaldson’s Vets team around The World of James Herriot in Kirkgate, Thirsk.

The next season of the hit TV show is expected to air next year.
