Carel’s yet to hit his top note!

- By STEVEN CHICKEN

CAREl Eiting has attracted plenty of positive attention for his recent goalscoring run of three goals in four games, but Carlos Corberan expects to see even more out of the midfielder.

The Ajax loanee has really found his feet in the Championship after a slightly tentative start to life at Huddersfield Town and has scored Town’s first goal against luton Town, Stoke City and Middlesbrough.

Those goals plus his assist for Isaac Mbenza against Stoke have been the fruits of a move into a more advanced midfield role in which the Dutchman is expected to push into the final third and look to play the final pass or apply the finish.

Asked whether he felt Town were getting the best out of Eiting, Corberan said: “I never think we are watching the best of the team and I never think we are watching the best of the players.

“If I thought I was watching the best of Eiting and it’s enough then our process to try to continue improving him or developing him or the adaptation we’re doing with him would be finished, and I don’t think any type of process like this is [ever] finished.

“The best of a player is when they are ready to adapt to any scenario and have impact in [several] games in a row. This is the challenge we have a team and the players have as players.”

But as to whether he had seen progress in Eiting, Corberan replied: “No doubt. He arrived playing in a different way, he arrived from a league where the football was different for him because he was dominating all the games.

“Even if here we are having a lot of possession, it never is the same type of possession, it never is the same way how we are defending the opponent, or the strengths and the qualities of the opponents we are facing when we are in defence. So always we are trying to improve, he is trying to adapt, and we need to continue that process.”
