Sarr happy with Corberan’s style

- By RICKY CHARLESWORTH

NABY Sarr insists he is happy with the responsibility laid upon players in his position at Huddersfield Town.

Part of the Carlos Corberan mantra is for the Terriers’ centrehalves, such as Sarr, to be comfortable in possession as well as competent defenders.

Sarr has certainly impressed in both areas during his first season in West Yorkshire.

One blot on his copybook occurred last week in the thrashing at Cardiff when he dawdled on the ball in his own area and was punished, with the hosts netting from the error.

But he recovered from the setback with a solid showing in the 2-0 win over QPR at the weekend.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s visit of Sheffield Wednesday, Sarr was asked about his feelings on the distinct style of play Corberan has implemented at Town.

He said: “I’ve been growing to play like this, at different clubs I’ve been at in the past. I think it suits me well to play out from the back.

“I enjoy it and at Charlton, under Lee Bowyer, there was a philosophy to play out from the back.

“It suits me because I like to take the ball from the keeper.

“It’s not always on, so sometimes we have to play long but when it is on I think we can do it well and play really good football.”

Referencing the aforementioned error in Wales, Sarr admits the most important thing is how you bounce back from mistakes. He added: “You have to be focused 100 per cent of the time to avoid mistakes such as the one at Cardiff.

“Apart from this, I’m really happy with the style of play.

“It’s done and it’s behind me. I’m a centre-back so it’s not the first mistake I’ve made and I don’t think it will be the last so it’s part of the game.

“What’s important is the reaction and to quickly recover. I think I did alright on Saturday (against QPR).”
