year ago, away to Charlton. Since then, he enjoyed a brief but successful loan spell at Swindon.

He played just nine times but helped the Robins clinch promotion from League Two, as they were beneficiaries of the Points Per Game method implemented following the Covid-enforced hiatus.

On the lack of available centre-halves, Corberan insists he has players within his squad who can cover that position but that he has full confidence in the ability of Edmonds-Green and fellow youngster Romoney Crichlow.

He said: “Schindler and Stearman are experienced players for us.

“It’s important to have these kind of players but when we

“But we have those who can adapt and play there. Jonathan Hogg has played there. Harry Toffolo has played there too in the cup game as a centre-back.

“He can cover and also Alex Vallejo. We have to be ready for these types of situations.

“We think we have many alternatives to play in this position. Hogg is one player who has all the attributes to play this position. But at the same time we know he is an important player in our midfield.

“That’s why we will try to cover this position (centre-half) with Edmonds-Green.”

CARLOS Corberan has given a further update on the injury status of Christopher Schindler.

The Town skipper left the field in Saturday’s 2-0 win over QPR after twisting his knee after an awkward fall.

The defender sustained the injury late in the match at the John Smith’s Stadium. He was in clear agony on the pitch, needing oxygen before leaving the field.

Ahead of tonight’s Championship game with Sheffield Wednesday at the John Smith’s Stadium, Corberan provided an update on the German, saying: “We are still waiting to see the results of the scan.

“He had the scan this morning (yesterday). Hopefully, we can have our captain with us as soon as possible. But the type of injury he suffered creates a lot of doubts about what is going to happen with him.

“What we need to do is wait for the results.

“I can never be happy when I lose one of my players, never. Especially one of the captains as we know how important Schindler has been for this club.

“We never like these type of injuries.

“But what we need to do, in football, like in life, is to adapt to any scenario.

“We need to keep calm until we know the result of the scan. Once we know that, then we will make our decisions.”

With Schindler’s contract expiring in the summer, there is the possibility he could have played his final game for Town.
